“Kat and Beth are great additions to our People's Choice family and we are excited to have them host the show”

"Kat and Beth are great additions to our People's Choice family and we are excited to have them host the show,” said Mark Burnett, the People’s Choice Awards Executive Producer for the fifth consecutive year. "Their energy and charisma are a perfect fit for our audience.”

Voting begins today for all 58 categories and will end at 11:59 PM EST on December 5, 2013. Winners will be revealed during the live broadcast of THE 40th ANNUAL PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.

This year fans cast over 160 million votes for the nominee selection phase, a new record. Robin Williams, who won his first People’s Choice Award in 1979 for his role on “Mork and Mindy,” has received a nomination 25 years later in the same category, “Favorite Actor in a New TV Series” for the “The Crazy Ones.” “Glee” leads the list of TV nominees with 8 nods including Favorite Network TV Comedy, and 4 acting nominations for the show’s cast. Katy Perry is the top music nominee with 5 nominations: Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Song, Favorite Music Video and Favorite Fan Following. Sandra Bullock leads the list of movie nominees with 5 nods: Favorite Actress, Favorite Comedic Actress, Favorite Dramatic Actress and two for Favorite Duo (one with George Clooney and the other with Melissa McCarthy). McCarthy is the only star to be nominated in both movie and television categories including Favorite Comedic TV Actress and Favorite Comedic Movie Actress.
This year, the People’s Choice Awards welcomes back Walgreens as its official retail partner. Once again, Walgreens will present the People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Humanitarian,” which reflects the company’s purpose to help people get, stay and live well within the community. The award will be presented during the live broadcast on January 8, 2014.

Born in Lancaster Pennsylvania, Beth Behrs grew up in Marin County near San Francisco. Behrs had a passion for performing at an early age and attended UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television. Behrs currently stars as Caroline Channing in the CBS series 2 Broke Girls one of the highest rated comedies on network television and the show is currently in its third season. Behrs recent film credit includes the voice of Carrie Williams in the Walt Disney Pixar animated film Monsters University. Behrs has performed at the Geffen Playhouse alongside Jane Lynch, Annette Bening and Helen Mirren. She also appeared on stage with the New York Philharmonic for their New Year’s Eve performance One Singular Sensation: Celebrating Marvin Hamlisch and is set to perform at the annual benefit TrevorLIVE in December 2013. In addition to singing and acting in musical theater Beth has been actively involved with charity organizations such as “Children of the Night,” “The Somaly Mam Organization” and is a board member of the Geffen Playhouse.

Prior to “2 Broke Girls,” Kat Dennings became known to audiences following her roles in feature films “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” and “Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist,” the latter of which she was nominated by the International Press Academy for a SATELLITE Award. Most recently, she starred in the movie adaptation of the comic book series “Thor.” Her additional film credits include “Daydream Nation,” “Defendor,” “Shorts,” “The Answer Man,” “The House Bunny,” “Charlie Bartlett,” “Raise Your Voice,” “Down in the Valley,” “London,” and “Big Momma’s House 2.” She stars in the upcoming film “Thor: The Dark World.” In 2005, she was selected to participate in the prestigious Sundance Filmmakers’ Lab where she worked with Robert Redford on director Dante Harper’s “Dreamland.” Dennings other television credits include “CSI: Miami,” “CSI: NY” and “Without a Trace, on CBS, as well as “ER” and “Raising Dad.”

Now in its 40th year, the People’s Choice Awards continues to be the only major awards show voted on entirely by the public for fan favorites in music, movies and television. The People’s Choice official website houses the voting platform where fans determine the categories, nominees and winners for the annual awards show. Every year, potential nominees are determined by national ratings averages, box-office grosses, music sales, social media presence and data, then vetted through EPoll Market Research. Fred Nelson is the President of People’s Choice, Mark Burnett is the Executive Producer and the awards show is produced by Procter & Gamble Productions, Inc. [NYSE:PG].
