NEW YORK (February 18, 2009) Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Spy Kids) is back in business with Dimension Films.  Rodriguez’s next project will be the futuristic action thriller Nerveracker, which he is writing and directing.  The announcement was made today by Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company.
Nerveracker is set in the year 2085 and centers on the character Joe Tezca, part of an elite unit who is sent in to stop a crime wave amongst a perfect futuristic society. In the process, he discovers that “Nerverackers” are on a rampage for control of the city. Tezca consequently sets forth on a mission to reveal the cover up by the ruling class and stop the “Nerverackers” before time runs out. Nerveracker is set for an April 16, 2010 release.

Bob Weinstein stated: “My relationship with Robert started over fourteen years ago with From Dusk Till Dawn, and since then we’ve worked on a dozen films together.  Robert has been an integral part of Dimension’s growth and success and I’m looking forward to being back in business with him on Nerveracker.  With movies like Desperado, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Spy Kids, and Sin City, Robert’s vision is always one step ahead and I think that is what  Nerveracker will be.”

“This is one of those projects that we dreamed about making for years, and now the timing is right to finally do it,” stated Robert Rodriguez.  “Bob has always been encouraging and shown genuine excitement for my ideas. That gets me pumped to make them realities.”

Bob and Harvey Weinstein have previously released several of Rodriguez’s films through Dimension and Miramax, including Grindhouse, Sin City, the Spy Kids franchise, Four Rooms, From Dusk Till Dawn, The Faculty, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl.
