KATHERINE HEIGL NAMED SHOWEST FEMALE STAR OF THE YEAR

HEIGL TO STAR IN LIONSGATE’S KILLERS TO BE RELEASED ON JUNE 4, 2010

LOS ANGELES — ShoWest has named Katherine Heigl ShoWest Female Star of the Year, it was announced today by Robert Sunshine, co-managing director of the event, which will be held March 15-18, 2010, in Las Vegas.  Heigl will be presented with the ShoWest Female Star of the Year Award at ShoWest’s Final Night Banquet and Award Ceremony on Thursday, March 18, at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas.

“Her ever-present charm and innate talent have made Heigl’s transition from TV screen to silver screen seemingly effortless,” said Sunshine. “Her comedic timing and flair for acting are showcased in each of her roles and have captivated audiences around the globe. We are pleased to honor Katherine Heigl as the ShoWest 2010 Female Star of the Year.”

This summer, Heigl stars in Lionsgate release Killers, opening June 4, 2010. From director Robert Luketic (“21,” “Monster-in-Law,” “Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!,” and “Legally Blonde”), comes a hilarious, unpredictable action comedy about love, marriage and serious firepower. Heigl stars as Jen Kornfeldt, a beautiful, fun-loving computer tech recovering from a bad break-up when she finds true love with Spencer Aimes (Ashton Kutcher), your average, undercover, government-hired super assassin. Three years later, they are enjoying a perfect marriage until they discover Spencer is the target of a mult-million dollar hit. Spencer and Jen are now on the run for their lives as they race to find out who wants Spencer dead and why.

Heigl already has an impressive and ever growing list of accomplishments, including her five-year stint on ABC’s prime-time drama, Grey’s Anatomy. She broke onto the big screen with the 2007 summer blockbuster Knocked Up, from director Judd Apatow. This was followed up by her box office favorite 27 Dresses, which proved to audiences across the country that Heigl has star power. Last year she starred in The Ugly Truth and will be seen later this year in the Warner Bros. Pictures release Life As We Know It. She has been recognized with several awards including an Emmy, People’s Choice, and SAG award.
