From Disney*Pixar comes UP, a comedy adventure about 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America.  But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip:  an overly optimistic 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell. From the Academy Award(r)-nominated director Pete Docter (“Monsters, Inc.”), Disney*Pixar’s UP invites you on a hilarious journey into a lost world, with the least likely duo on Earth. UP will be presented in Disney Digital 3-D* in select theaters.

*         UP is the 10th film from Disney*Pixar, which has gone nine for nine with an unprecedented streak of hugely successful films comprising “WALL-E,” “Ratatouille,” “Cars,” “The Incredibles,” “Finding Nemo,” “Monsters, Inc.,” “Toy Story,” “Toy Story 2” and “A Bug’s Life.”  Pixar now has nine of the 25 top grossing animated films of all time domestically, and all nine have been No. 1 at the box office on their opening weekends of wide release.

*          Director Pete Docter is a creative powerhouse who made his directorial debut with Disney*Pixar‘s smash hit “Monsters, Inc.” which was nominated for an Academy Award(r) for Best Animated Feature Film. Along with John Lasseter and Andrew Stanton, Docter developed the story and characters for “Toy Story,” Disney*Pixar‘s first full length animated feature film, for which he also served as supervising animator.  He served as a storyboard artist on “A Bug’s Life” and wrote the initial story treatment for “Toy Story 2.”  As one of Pixar Animation Studios’ key creative contributors, Docter garnered an Academy Award* nomination for his original story credit on Disney*Pixar’s Golden Globe* winner and Oscar* nominee, “WALL*E.”

*         John Ratzenberger is tapped yet again to lend his voice to this film.  Ratzenberger is the only actor to voice a character in all 10 Disney*Pixar films.

*         UP is the first Disney*Pixar film in 3-D.

*         Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino has received numerous accolades for his work on previous Disney*Pixar films “Ratatouille” (Grammy(r) Award winner, Best Score Album Soundtrack; Annie Award winner, Best Music in an Animated Feature Production; Oscar(r) nomination, Best Original Score) and “The Incredibles” (Annie Award winner, Best Music in an Animated Feature Production; Grammy nomination, Best Score Album Soundtrack).  He also was the musical director for the Oscars(r) this year.
