JUNK FOOD ART HOUSE TEAMS UP WITH SONY PICTURES AND LOIS SAKANY & SAMIA GRAND-PIERRE of HIGHSNOBETTE.COM FOR AN EXPERIENTIAL RUNWAY SHOW UNLIKE ANY OTHER DURING NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

Junk Food Art House Presents “Le Look Smurfette” curated by Lois Sakany & Samia Grand-Pierre of Highsnobette.com.

NEW YORK, NY – January 23rd, 2013 – Film meets fashion on February 13th during New York Fashion Week, as Junk Food Art House teams up with Sony Pictures Animation in collaboration with Lois Sakany & Samia Grand-Pierre of Highsnobette.com, to unveil a new collection inspired by the iconic animated character, Smurfette. In anticipation of The Smurfs 2 movie opening this summer, the fashion show will reflect Smurfette’s spunk and undeniable cute factor with hints of Parisian accents from the movie. The collection mixes a high-end aesthetic with streetwear elements to create looks that capture the spirit of the film and characters, though a non-literal translation.

The aesthetic theme of the collection is “Gamine Chic,” contrasting the modern look of classic tailored silhouettes with signature soft knit tops, which are the heart of the Junk Food brand. The theme cleverly combines the Smurfs’ color palette with inspirations from the movie’s Paris storyline. In keeping with the contemporary fairytale aesthetic of the Smurfs’ world, tops are cut in a variety of soft shapes that portray Smurfette’s rough and tumble yet girlish nature. Styling silhouettes include mod dresses, sharp trousers, flip skirts, and three-quarter length cropped jackets.

Customized tees in the show will be heightened with art that speaks to the trippy, timeless appeal of the Smurfs, including versions of the Smurfs’ “La La La” theme song, all-over print headshots of Smurfette and key images from the classic show, all of which are in step with current fashion themes paying tribute to brightly colored animated characters with icon status. The styling will present a versatile mix of high and low to create a look that is synonymous with this generation’s embracing of everything cool, rather than a singular vision. Custom bags and scarves from Thursday Friday and beautiful glitzy jewelry from Glam House create feminine chic sensibilities brushed with a hint of fairy dust and a taste for adventure - perfect for the look of Smurfette in Paris.

This will be the fifth artist collaboration for Junk Food Art House (following Anthony Lister, Aaron Rose, MARIPOL, and Keith Haring) and marks its second appearance at Fashion Week, following its debut last February with “Money Can’t Buy Happiness” themed show curated by Aaron Rose, transforming the runway into a live Monopoly game.

The Junk Food Art House Presents “Le Look Smurfette” Fashion Show will take place on Wednesday, February 13th at 6:30 pm at CONAIR STYLE360 located at 125 West 18th Street.
