Penn, Carrey, Del Toro part of studio's plan

MGM and the Farrelly brothers are closing in on their cast for "TheThree Stooges."

Studio has set Sean Penn to play Larry, and negotiations are underway with Jim Carrey to play Curly, with the actor already making plans to gain 40 pounds to approximate the physical dimensions of Jerome "Curly" Howard.

The studio is zeroing in on Benicio Del Toro to play Moe.

The film is not a biopic, but rather a comedy built around the antics of the three characters that Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Howard played in the Columbia Pictures shorts.

Ace Ventura Jr: Pet Detective World Premiere

On March 8, Ace Ventura Jr: Pet Detective held it's world "Green Carpet" World Premiere at the Springs Preserve.  The event was sponsored by Johnny Brenden (Brenden Theatres at the Palms) and the Palms Casino Resort.

Celebrities in attendance included hosts Ryan Malgarini and Brittany Curran, Josh Flitter, Emma Lockhart, Austin Rogers, and many more.
Ace Ventura Jr.: Pet Detective follows the Ace Ventura motion picture series made popular by Jim Carrey. 12-year-old Josh Flitter plays Ace Jr., the son of the eccentric detective who steps into his father's shoes after his mother is wrongly arrested for stealing a baby panda.

The general public was invited to watch the Green Carpet celebrity arrivals on the upper level of the Springs Preserve parking area.  Following the celebrity arrivals, the public participated in Ace Ventura Jr: Pet Detective Day at Springs Preserve with movie-themed activities including celebrity cast autographs, photo opportunities, special vendor booths, props from the film, and other film inspired activities.

Portions of the proceeds from a limited number of VIP tickets sold went to benefit Springs Preserve Foundation and Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer.

CULVER CITY, Calif., February 24, 2009 - Michel Gondry is in negotiations to direct Columbia Pictures' The Green Hornet, starring Seth Rogen and Stephen Chow, it was announced today by Doug Belgrad and Matt Tolmach, presidents of Columbia Pictures.
