JAMIE FOXX JOINS HIS CO-STARS OF “THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2” AND EARTH HOUR SUPER HEROES IN BLUE REVOLUTION

Jamie Foxx, who plays the villain, Electro, in the highly anticipated motion picture The Amazing Spider-Man 2, will be joining his co-stars, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, in calling on a global community to take simple action online to protect the planet.

As part of Earth Hour Blue, the revolutionary program launched by WWF’s Earth Hour, Foxx will support ‘Light Up A Village’, a clean energy project from WWF-Uganda. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 actor is urging participants to go online and contribute funds to the ‘Light Up a Village’ crowdfunding project, which will provide solar lights and energy efficient mud stoves to families living around an area in Uganda that has come to be known as the “Earth Hour Forest.” Through the simple steps of supporting these vulnerable communities, the project aims to empower the locals to become the future protectors of the soon to be rehabilitated forest area.

The Dam Short Film Festival Returns to Boulder City

Each year in February, The Dam Short FilmFestival showcases short films of all genres and styles in the historic 400-seat Boulder Theatre in downtown Boulder City.

This year's festival is setting up to be the best yet with 171 films from around the world.

"The last two seasons had record attendance, and for the first time the Festival is expanding its schedule to five days. We're showing more films than ever," said Festival Director John LaBonney.

Each year, local filmmakers are featured in their own distinct showcase. The Nevada Filmmakers program is Saturday, February 15th and will screen nine films from new and returning Nevada filmmakers. In addition, the Festival is celebrating its 10th season with a look back at some of the best films from its history in three retrospective programs: 10 Years of Nevada Films, 10 Years of Comedy, and 10 Years of Animation.

Local Producer Geralyn Dreyfous to Receive Prestigious Amicus Award from International Documentary Association

SALT LAKE CITY--(Business Wire)--Local film producer and co-founder of the Utah Film Center Geralyn Dreyfous is being honored with the International Documentary Association’s (IDA) prestigious Amicus Award, presented to friends of the documentary genre who have contributed significantly to the industry.
